MARK
CROWDIS
Mark Crowdis, the founder and President of Think Energy, has a long
history of environmental and entrepreneurial endeavors. While still
an undergraduate student at the University of California at Davis,
he helped start a small organic farm. After receiving his B.A. Mark
left his partners with a successful business and journeyed to Washington,
D.C. to work in the political arena.
In Washington Mark worked on political campaigns, lobbied on Capitol
Hill for sustainable transportation, worked for the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency on water pollution, wetland and biological diversity
management programs and worked as an environmental consultant while
attending graduate school at Johns Hopkins University. After receiving
his M.S. in Environmental Science, Mark worked with the U.S. EPAs
Green Lights and Energy Star Buildings program, where he managed
a national sales team in an effort to engage commercial and industrial
end-users in energy efficiency projects.
Amidst emerging deregulated electricity markets, Mark researched
and authored a plan for electricity retailers forecasting market
opportunities for selling renewable electricity to commercial and
industrial customers. Subsequently, he accepted a position with
Green Mountain Energy Company where he was responsible for developing
their commercial and industrial service and sales capabilities in
the deregulated electricity markets in California, Pennsylvania
and New Jersey. He worked to develop their program for several years
before founding Think Energy.
Since forming Think Energy in July, 2000, Mark has taken an active
role in every energy and sustainability project to date. Some of
his key successes include: enabling the World Resources Institutes
Green Power Market Development Group to purchase green pricing products;
supporting Toyota Motor Sales efforts to create the worlds
largest "green" building; helping the Tower Company buy
cost competitive renewable energy credits; and forming the Rhode
Island Renewable Energy Customer Aggregation Program. Mark personally
ensures that clients receive products and services of the highest
quality.
